Robocalls & Robotexts

iphone-bubblesIt’s illegal for companies to make auto-dialed, pre-recorded calls or to send junk text messages to your cellphone unless you have given them your consent.

Violating the law is a serious matter, and can carry a penalty of $500 for each time the company places a robocall or robotext under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (“TCPA”).  A consumer was recently awarded over $30,000 under the TCPA after a company made over 50 separate robocalls to his cellphone.
